At 44mm, the Chronomat 44 makes a confident statement on the wrist. The stainless steel case is fitted with a convex sapphire crystal glare-proofed on both sides, while the unidirectional rotating 18k rose gold raised inner bezel carries a tachymeter scale. Water resistance is rated to 500m/1650ft, with a screw-locked, two-gasket crown construction contributing to that capability.
The two-tiered onyx black dial features a flat outer ring and a square-shaped center, set off by gold-toned applied index hour markers with luminescent tips and polished gold-toned hands with luminescent fill. Chronograph functions include a large central seconds counter, a 30-minute counter sub-dial at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter sub-dial at 6 o'clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, with a date window positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock. Gold-toned sub-dials complete the layout.
Powering the watch is the Breitling caliber B01 automatic movement, housing 47 jewels and offering a minimum power reserve of 70 hours. The watch is worn on a black alligator/crocodile leather strap secured by a tang buckle clasp, and is accompanied by the original Breitling watch box and Breitling papers.
