Housed in a 40 mm Oyster case crafted from platinum, the Day-Date 40 (ref. 228236-0004) features a monobloc middle case with screw-down case back and winding crown. A fluted bezel frames scratch-resistant sapphire crystal fitted with a Cyclops lens over the date, while the screw-down Twinlock double waterproofness system secures the crown. The case is waterproof to 100 metres / 330 feet.
The bright black dial is set with 10 baguette-cut diamonds serving as hour markers, bringing striking contrast against the platinum case. Day and date displays appear through dedicated apertures with instantaneous, secure rapid-setting, and a stop-seconds function allows for precise time adjustment. The platinum President bracelet, composed of semi-circular three-piece links, fastens via a concealed folding Crownclasp.
Powering the watch is the Calibre 3255 Manufacture Rolex perpetual mechanical self-winding movement, COSC certified to a precision of -2/+2 seconds per day after casing. The oscillator employs a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, with bidirectional self-winding via a Perpetual rotor and a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
